From the outside, things appear solid.
The practice is busy, income is strong, and you’re doing what most people would consider “the right things.”
What’s missing isn’t effort or discipline.
It’s visibility.
At this stage, many dentists assume that because revenue is healthy, the practice must be running close to its potential. In reality, that’s rarely the case.
You may not have asked:
how much profit the practice should be generating,
where money is quietly leaking or being misallocated, or
whether today’s decisions are helping or hindering long-term freedom.
Not because you’re careless, but because no one has ever shown you how to look at the numbers this way.
Before wealth can be built confidently outside the practice, the practice itself needs to be deliberately stewarded.
That means understanding:
what “good” really looks like for your business,
which decisions genuinely improve financial outcomes, and
how much surplus is being created intentionally, versus accidentally.
Most dentists are encouraged to skip this step and move straight to investing.
When that happens, financial success becomes slower, riskier, and more dependent on luck than it needs to be.
I recorded a short video that explains why high-income professionals often plateau financially, even when everything appears to be going well.
It introduces a different way of thinking about money. One that starts with optimising the practice as a wealth engine, before moving anywhere else.
Watch it when you’re ready.
